Faith

Hebrews 11:1, 6
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

David was a little boy,
In the pastures he loved to play,
But when he chose to fight the giant,
The army men said “no way.”

He must have shivered in his boots,
And fear chilled his bones,
Yet he shook Goliath at his roots,
And slew him with five stones.

No logic could explain this,
And no-one could foresee,
But because he put his faith in God,
He tasted victory.

God told Abraham, “My son,
I know your situation,
But, behold, a day will come,
When you’ll be a father of many nations.”

Now Sarah his wife was barren and old,
But Abraham believed God’s story,
Things happened just as God had told,
And He received the glory.

Now these are people from the past,
Just stories, some might say,
But the God that worked in olden days,
Is still the same today.

He never breaks His promises,
Though unthinkable they might appear to be,
And whatever others say, or I tell myself,
He’s the God of impossibility.
