The Obvious Answer To A Stupid Question

I wonder why people do this? When they see you sitting at your desk, they say “O, are you here?” Where else can you be?

Sometimes I answer, if I’ve got nothing better to do with the air in my voice box. But then sometimes I don’t.

And then sometimes (I’m thinking of one ex-colleague now), the person will make the situation even worse. How? By asking the question AGAIN. And again. And again.

I really think I need to get away from the obvious answer, which obviously is yes. I’m hoping you can help me think of some “unobvious” and witty replies, which at least would keep me entertained, and stop me from downgrading other people’s intelligence. 🙂
